Joe Stella

Hi, my name is Joe Stella.

I have been involved in athletics for as long as I can remember. From an early age I was playing just about any sport I could get my hands on, from baseball to soccer to basketball and even a little gymnastics. At 12 years old I had my first interaction with a barbell and I was instantly hooked. I was fascinated at the idea of getting stronger every time I came back to a lift and became obsessed with this idea of strength progression. In High School I stuck to baseball and football as my main sports but this is where I truly developed my lifelong passion for lifting weights. Up until this point, I would do some workouts here and there but I had absolutely no knowledge of training programs or how to structure training in an effective way. A coach handed me a copy of Bigger, Faster, Stronger and it opened up a whole new world to me. I couldn’t wait to try out and develop different training programs based on the newest methodology I found. I continued to adapt these ideologies specifically to my sport career in college where I played football and rugby.

Once I graduated college, I needed a new outlet in regards to lifting. One day I came across a Strongman competition that was 2 weeks away a few hours from my house. I signed up and drove to the competition with absolutely no experience with any implements but I had the time of my life and was immediately obsessed with the sport. This first competition was in May of 2015 and ever since I have been competing in the sport and have risen from small local competitions to National Championships and International competitions. I first came to Kabuki Strength in 2019 and the access to their resources, staff, and equipment has taken me to a much higher level. Creating a more complete system of lifting, movement, nutrition, and recovery have become vital in my ability to continuously get stronger and more well-rounded.

I have an immense passion for strength of all kinds, especially in helping others that are looking to get into Strongman or take themselves to the next level. My background as an athlete and time in strength sports has allowed me to develop a multi-faceted approach when it comes to training for performance. Whether an athlete is just getting into Strongman or lifting in general, or they are trying to pursue the sport at the highest level, we will develop the system to get you where you want to be.
